Svetlana Balashova is an Associate professor of the department of mathematical modeling in economics at the RUDN University, executive director of the International Center for Emerging Markets Research at RUDN University – Moscow. She has been elected as a visiting professor at the Belgrade Banking Academy in 2013. She teaches econometrics, financial econometrics and related subjects for undergraduate and graduate students.

In addition to teaching, Svetlana Balashova is actively engaged in scientific research. Her personal field of research is economic growth and innovation development, applications of econometric modelling.

She is the author or co-author of several text-books and numerous research papers. She has taken part in many international conferences and seminars, including being a speaker at the seminar on “New Reality” and Russian Markets at Harvard’s Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies in April 2017.

Balashova holds her PhD in theoretical physics at RUDN University. She then widened her sphere of interests and studied economics at High School of Economics in Moscow and High School of Economics and Political Science in London. She is a regular participant of Spring courses on econometrics at Coimbra University, Portugal.
